The problem

The Berliner Lecture Room (PSB 180) at Bryn Mawr College is approximately 42.8 feet long by 26.3 feet wide by 11.6 feet tall. What is the volume of this room in cubic centimeters?

You may be thinking...

The dimensions of the room are given in feet. The answer must be given in cubic centimeters. A conversion factor between feet and centimeters is required. The table inside the back cover of the textbook gives this number: 2.54cm = 1 in.

Since the conversion factor is between inches and centimeters and the data is in feet we must also use an additional conversion factor: 12 inches = 1 foot.
