Kinetic Theory of Gases
Postulates
- The size of the gas molecules/atoms is negligible compared with the
distance between them.
- Molecules/atoms move randomly in all directions and at various speeds.
- Forces between two molecules/atoms are negligible, except during collisions.
- Collisions between two molecules/atoms are elastic (no energy lost).
- The average kinetic energy of the molecules/atoms is proportional
to the temperature.
