Why is approximation appropriate?
Approximations can be made because the value of the unknown
concentration 'x' is small relative to the initial concentration. We
expect this to be true in cases where the equilibrium lies well
towards the reactant side.
In general (1 - x) is approximately equal to 1 if x is much smaller
than 1 (i.e. 0.0001).
