Problem Sets

  • Problem sets will not be graded collected nor graded. However, practicing skills discussed in lecture by working problems is highly recommended.
  • Suggested problems for each chapter are listed in the course schedule.

Quizzes

  • Quizzes will feature problems similar to homework problems
  • Quiz problems will be completed in assigned small groups for 15 minutes on the day the Quiz is distributed.
  • Quizzes will be handed out on the dates indicated on the course schedule. Quizzes are due at the beginning of the next class period.
  • The lowest quiz grade will be dropped. No make-up quizzes will be given.

Examinations

  • There will be 3 hour exams and a final exam. Hour exam dates are shown on the calendar.
  • The final will be comprehensive.
  • Use additional problems at the end of each chapter for practice. The solutions for many problems are available in the Student Solutions Manual.

Grading

  • Lab: 33%
  • Lecture: 67% = 27% (final) + 7.5% (quiz) + 25%(hour exam) + 7.5% (project)
  • Class attendance will be considered for borderline cases!
