e-mail: All students should obtain an e-mail account at the computer center. Periodically, vital information will be sent via e-mail.
The following information is very important and
should be carefully noted by each student.
1 Laboratories will be held according to the attached summer schedule.
2 It is expected that all students will attend all Chem 211 laboratory sessions and lectures on time. A 30 minute lecture will be given at 12:45 sharp each day in Room 278. Prompt, regular attendance is mandatory. It is also expected that all students will be able to stay for each laboratory period in its entirety. Make-up labs will be permitted only in extreme circumstances.
3 Basis for Grading:
85% Lab Reports
15 % Lab Technique

PLEASE NOTE: While the figures above represent the breakdown of the laboratory grade, the laboratory grade will constitute 25% of the composite lecture/lab final grade. The lecture grade will constitute the other 75%. At appropriate intervals lab material will be included on lecture exams.
4 Supplemental materials such as exam answers, practice problems and spectra will be found on reserve in the Collier Science Library and on the Organic Chemistry bulletin board (outside my office, Room 170). (In accordance with the BMC Honor Code, please promptly return all reserve materials.)
5 In accordance with the BMC Honor Code, all laboratory reports must be written independently. While you are encouraged to ask for basic guidance from your instructors and TA, group work while writing the reports or study of "old" lab reports is not acceptable.
7 Lab will only run until 4:30 pm for experimental work and 5:00 pm for cleanup. If you need extra time you may come back on another afternoon.
8 Laboratory work is not permitted on the weekends.
9 Beyond the free extension given in the lab manual, all other extensions require the joint approval of your dean and Dr. Nerz-Stormes.
