FIRST ASSIGNMENT
VIRTUAL DATING
Visit the
virtual dating website and complete the exercise. It
should take you about an hour. If you like, you may complete this
exercise with a friend.
At the end, fill in your name(s) and
print the Virtual Radiochronologist certificate.
We advise you to run this exercise using Netscape Communicator
version 4 or Internet Explorer version 4 (or higher). Most newer
computers on campus run these versions of the web browser.
IMPORTANT! If you stop in the middle, you must start over from the
beginning -- so plan to work the exercise through in one sitting. Note
that you have to plot points and determine the age for three
different rocks before you earn your certificate. Be sure to
print your certificate before quitting the browser or leaving the
dating
web site. You must have a certificate with your name on it to get
credit.
Bring your certificate to class on Monday, 9/11. Please
indicate your lab day on the certificate.
If you have questions about any aspect of this assignment, please come
to the help sessions on Monday 4:30-5:30 or Thursday 3:00-5:00 in PSB 100 (the
101 lab room) -- or talk to your lab instructor.
