Geology 101 - Syllabus

Lectures - MWF 10-11 in Park Science Building 243

Labs M, Tu or W 1-4 (Choose 1)

Text - Earth's Dynamic Systems, 8th Edition by W.K. Hamblin and E.H. Christiansen. If you have a text other than the one recommended and need help finding the material covered each week, consult with an instructor.

Additional introductory texts are available in the lab and in Collier Science Library if you would like to try other options.

Student participation is an essential part of this course.

This means:

Written work:

    1. The geology of your hometown area (or another area you are fond) of or
    2. A geological topic related to your major.

Grades will be based on class participation and the written work. One half of the grade is awarded for work in the laboratory and the other half is awarded for class participation and written work (1/3 of this for the hour tests, 1/3 for the weekly assignments and paper, and 1/3 for the final examination).

Recitation times:

These will be in room 100 (the lab room). Come to ask questions or discuss items of interest

Mondays 4:30-5:30 PM

Thursdays 3:00-5:00 PM
