Tara Brendle (above, left) is a graduate student in mathematics working under the direction of Joan Birman at Columbia University. She received her B.A. degree from Haverford College, where she excelled in several sports. She was a participant in the Spelman-Bryn Mawr Summer Math Program in 1993, and has served as a mentor in that program as well.
