Finding Books

Tripod: The Tri-College Online Catalog

  • To locate BOOKS, try a subject search, such as "city planning ", "sociology, urban", "developing countries", "cities and towns", or "housing"
    • Browse records of interest to view other related Library of Congress subject classifications.
    • Look closely for subdivisions including , "Bibliography", "History and criticism", "Study and Teaching" and for regional specifications such as "Subculture -- Japan -- Case Studies " or Urban ecology -- Brazil -- Rio de Janeiro -- Congresses
  • Or try a keyword search, such as "Cities Annotated Bibliography" or "Subculture Urban"
  • Call number searches - when you've found relevant works via subject headings or keywords, try doing call number searches using the call numbers listed.

Includes hundreds of newspapers and magazines -- foreign, domestic and local -- dating back to the 1980s; includes all types of articles, from news to reviews to Opinion/Editorial and letters to the editor.  For foreign news, click Guided News Search, World News, Middle East/Africa News.  Updated daily. Anthropology Plus

Provides worldwide indexing of journal articles, reports, commentaries, edited works, and obituaries in the fields of social, cultural, physical, biological, and linguistic anthropology, ethnology, archaeology, folklore, material culture, and interdisciplinary studies. Coverage is from the late 19th century to the present.

Sociological Abstracts

Abstracts and indexes the international literature in sociology and related disciplines in the social and behavioral sciences. Provides abstracts of journal articles and citations to book reviews drawn from over 1,809 serials publications, and also provides abstracts of books, book chapters, dissertations, and conference papers. Records added after 1972 contain in-depth and nonevaluative abstracts of journal articles.

PAIS

Indexes journal articles; books; government documents; statistical compilations;committee reports; directories; serials; reports of public, intergovernmental, and private organizations; and most other forms of printed literature from all over the world. Areas covered include the literature of public policy, social policy, and the social sciences in general

Bibliography of Asian Studies

Contains the Associated Press. current year.s photo report and images from its negative and print library. Most images in the archive are contemporary. Photos are added daily. Coverage varies, 1840-present
