Procedures for holds/Tripod request placement for materials with status IN CAT DEPT or IN PROCESS
Public Services Staff Procedures
1. Direct patrons who ask how to get materials with the status IN CAT DEPT or IN PROCESS to place a hold in Tripod for the desired item.
2. Tell patrons those items should be available within about a day, and that they will receive an email message telling them the item is available for pickup.
Branch Library Circulation Staff daily procedures
1. Print hold slips as usual.
2. For holds where the status of the item is either IN CAT DEPT or IN PROCESS, place these hold slips in an envelope addressed as “Canaday Circulation/In Cat. Holds”. If printing hold slips more than daily, combine hold slips so that only one envelope is being produced each day.
3. Send the envelope in the bags being sent to Canaday via the Tri-College Van.
Canaday Circulation Staff daily procedures
1. Combine the branch hold slips received that day from the Tri-College Van bag and the Canaday hold slips where the item status is IN CAT DEPT or IN PROCESS.
2. Place those printed hold slips in the designated bin on top of the filing cabinet in the Cataloging Dept., located to the right of Kim DiGiovanni’s desk.
Cataloging Staff daily procedures
1. Take the printed hold slips from the designated bin and pull the corresponding materials from the shelves.
2. Add a MESSAGE field to the corresponding Tripod item
record saying: Return for cataloging
after patron use—KD [initials of cataloging staff person] 09.12.05 [the current
date]
3. Place the hold slip with each corresponding item.
4. Send Haverford/Swarthmore and Canaday holds to the desk of the Circulation intern.
5. Place the Carpenter/Collier holds in the appropriate boxes in Canaday Circulation located under the table next to the Canaday Circulation Intern’s desk.
