Standardized Testing
Bryn Mawr has adopted a NEW "Test Flexible" standardized testing policy.
Bryn Mawr College has adopted a new testing policy that will give students greater flexibility in applying to the college and is more in line with current research regarding the role standardized tests should play in the admissions process. The policy sets a new precedent for the use of Advanced Placement (AP) tests in the admissions process and allows for an option that focuses exclusively on subject mastery.
Students wishing to enroll at Bryn Mawr for the fall 2010 semester will now be able to submit results from
- The SAT Reasoning Test and a combination of two different SAT Subject Tests or AP tests
- The ACT or
- A combination of three SAT Subject Tests and/or AP tests in the following areas:
- English, history or languages and
- Math or science and
- One subject of the student’s choice but in a subject different from the other two (only one non-English language may be submitted
Students applying to Bryn Mawr under an Early Decision Plan should complete all testing by the deadline of their plan.
All tests for regular decision applicants must be completed by the January test date of your senior year.
IMPORTANT:
Bryn Mawr requires official AP, SAT and SAT Subject Test score reports be sent by the College Board. American College Test (ACT) scores must be sent from the ACT, Inc. You should indicate on the registration form that the scores be reported directly to Bryn Mawr College. To do so you will need to provide our testing code number. (SAT 2049/ ACT 3526) If at the time of registration you did not indicate that you would like your scores sent to Bryn Mawr College, you should write the testing organization requesting your scores be forwarded to The Bryn Mawr College Office of Admissions.

What is Early Decision?
- An Early Decision candidate may not apply Early Decision to any other institution but may apply to another institution under a Regular Decision plan or a non-binding Early Action plan. If admitted to Bryn Mawr College under an Early Decision plan, the student is required to withdraw applications from all other colleges or universities.
Early Decision at Bryn Mawr
- Both the Early Decision I and Early Decision II plans are binding and are most beneficial for the candidate who has thoroughly investigated Bryn Mawr and has found the College to be her clear first-choice. The Early Decision II plan differs only in recognizing that some candidates may arrive at a final choice of college later than others.
- About one-fourth to one-third of each entering class is admitted under the Early Decision plan.
- An Early Decision candidate must sign the Common Application Early Decision Agreement indicating that she understands the commitment required by this application option. You may find it on the Common Application site.
- Early Decision candidates will receive one of three decisions: admit, defer to the regular applicant pool, or deny. If admitted, the student is required to withdraw all other applications. If deferred to the regular pool, the student will be reconsidered along with the regular admission applicants and will receive notification in early April. If refused admission, the student may not apply again that year.
- The Regular Decision Plan allows candidates to keep open several college options.
