Early Decision and Regular Decision Plans

You may apply to Bryn Mawr through one of three plans: Fall or Winter Early Decision or Regular Decision. Applicants follow the same procedures, submit the same supporting materials and are evaluated by the same criteria under each option, but the deadlines and notification dates for each plan are different.

Early Decision Plans The two Early Decision Plans are designed for candidates who have thoroughly investigated Bryn Mawr and other colleges and have found Bryn Mawr to be a clear first choice by early in the senior year. There is a Fall Early Decision plan with a deadline of November 15 and a Winter Early Decision plan of January 1.
An Early Decision applicant is notified of one of three decisions:

  1. Acceptance and, if applicable, financial aid award decision. The student must withdraw all other applications.
  2. Deferral of a final decision, in which case her application will be reconsidered along with those of Regular Plan candidates in the spring.
  3. Refusal of admission. The student may not apply again that year.

Regular Decision Plan
The Regular Decision Plan is designed for candidates who intend to apply to multiple institutions. Applications are accepted any time on or before the January 15 deadline. Notification of decisions is mailed by early April.
A Regular Decision applicant is notified of one of three decisions:

  1. Acceptance and, if applicable, financial aid award decision.
  2. Refusal of admission. The student may not apply again that year.
  3. Offer to be placed on the waiting list. Students can accept a place on the waiting list for possible admission.
Application Fee:

Please include the non-refundable $50 application fee (payable to Bryn Mawr College) with the application. The applicant's name should be written on the check. A credit card may also be used to pay the application fee online.
If the application fee presents a financial hardship to the family, a written request for a fee waiver by a teacher or counselor can be submitted.
