Physical Fitness

Although travelers of all ages have safely journeyed to the Galapagos Islands, and Natural Habitat Adventures believes that you are as young as you feel, we encourage travelers who are concerned with their personal physical fitness to call our office for further details and to check with their own physician before making the trip. Even though most of the activities are not particularly strenuous, where landings on shore where we do not deck our dinghies (or pangas) can sometimes be difficult, and some of our hikes may involve climbing over large lava locks. Our Program Leader and Local Guide are there to assist and will advise you of the conditions of the walk prior to departing for each particular island. All activities are optional.

Tour Cost Includes

Round-trip air transportation between Quito and the Galapagos Islands; accommodations on the ship based on double occupancy, as well as three nights at a deluxe hotel in Quito; Otavalo Market tour on June 28; all meals from breakfast on June 28 through breakfast on July 7, except lunch on July 6; bottled water and soda on the ship; all transfers and park fees; services of the highest-quality; professional naturalist guides; gratuities.

Air Transportation

You should plan to arrive in Quito on or before June 27. Many travelers arrive a day early to enjoy the sights of Quito and to allow for possible weather and luggage delays. You will be met upon arrival and taken to our hotel, where we will spend the June 27. The orientation will be given individually by your Program Leader. On July 7, you are free to depart Quito at any time, since we spend our last two evenings there. We can best serve you if the Natural Habitat Adventures' Travel Desk makes these reservations for you, as they are intimately familiar with the special requirements of this program and can arrange the most efficient and cost-effective travel for you. Please indicate your desired arrangements on the attached reservation form.

Not Included in Tour Cost

Airfare between your home city and Quito, Ecuador; meals on June 27 and lunch on July 6; items of a personal nature (laundry, telephone, alcoholic beverages, etc.); airport taxes and service charges; travel insurance.

Travel Documents

A passport, valid for six months after your return date, is required for travel to mainland Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. We encourage single travelers to join our programs. If requested, we will attempt to match you with a roommate during your stay on the boat. If one is not available, you will not be charged a single fee for that portion of your trip. However, while in Quito, there will be a $225 single supplement fee.
