Dear Alumnae/i,
Join us for three days of culture in the Berkshires. Often called the "inland Newport" because of the opulent "cottages" built there during the Gilded Age, this area of western Massachusetts has drawn artists, writers, and musicians for the last 150 years.
We will converge at The Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge with Dean of the Undergraduate College Karen M. Tidmarsh '71. The Red Lion Inn is one of the few remaining American inns in continuous use since the 18th century.
The schedule below describes the many cultural attractions we will experience, including The Mount, the newly restored house and gardens of Edith Wharton in Lenox.
To register for the Bryn Mawr program, please complete the enclosed form and return it to the Alumnae Association office with your payment, then call The Red Lion Inn at 413.298.1690 to reserve your room. Be sure to request the Bryn Mawr Alumnae Association special rate and reserve your room by May 30 to guarantee availability.
We hope to see you in the Berkshires!

Barrington Stage Co. performs The Violet Hour Set in 1919 at the dawn of the Jazz Age, The Violet Hour (by Richard Greenberg, directed by Rob Ruggiero) tells the story of young, up-and-coming New York publisher, John Pace Seavering, who has enough money to print only one book. John is caught between his old friend, Denny—a talented writer with an epic manuscript—and his secret lover Jessie, a popular black jazz singer who has written her memoirs. Adding to John's dilemma is the arrival of a strange machine that spews pages from books written in the future, books that throw all plans into turmoil. |
