Area C
Since excavations began in 1994, most of our attention has focussed on Area C. The plan above shows what the overall layout of this area was like as of the end of the 2004 season. There are gateways to the south and east that provide access to a large walled enclosure in which numerous buildings were located.

The images to the right show typical rooms in the main building of Area C. These are constructed with pisé or adobe, sometimes with stone foundations or courses.

One of the most surprising buildings that we have excavated is called Building II and is a typical ‘columned hall.’ It is discussed in more detail in the 2002 Report, and a paper published in the First National UAE Archaeology Conference.
