Gym Membership Policies

Membership to The Bern Schwartz Fitness and Athletic Center is available to all current members of the Bryn Mawr community free of charge.  These groups include:

  • Current Bryn Mawr undergraduate, post baccalaureate, and graduate students can access the facility through the use of a valid Onecard ID.
  • Faculty and staff and their spouse or partner
    • Spouse or partner must complete the Gym/Library Application for spouse/partners found on the Bryn Mawr College website at the Requested Forms link under the Human Resources page.  The spouse or partner must submit the completed application to the Office of Human Resources during weekday business hours and obtain a photo identification card from the Bryn Mawr OneCard office ($10 fee).  Dependent children under the age of twelve are permitted to use the facility if accompanied by a parent or spouse/partner of a parent.
  • Bryn Mawr faculty emeriti and their spouse or partner / Bryn Mawr retirees and their spouse or partner
    • All members of either group must complete the Gym/Library Application found on the Bryn Mawr College website at the Requested Forms link under the Human Resources page.  The spouse or partner must also submit and complete an application to the Office of Human Resources during weekday business hours and obtain a photo identification card from the Bryn Mawr OneCard office ($10 fee). 

    • In addition, the following groups are eligible for membership at a nominal annual fee:

  • Bryn Mawr alumni and their spouse or partner
  • Alumnae from Seven Sister Institutions and their spouse or partner
  • Haverford faculty and their spouse or partner

Each individual member from any of these groups must complete the membership application found on the Bryn Mawr athletics website.  Submit completed applications and full payment to The Department of Athletics and Physical Education during weekday, normal business hours(9am-5pm, Monday-Friday).  We accept payment in the form of a check made payable to Bryn Mawr College.   Upon completion of the application process, you must obtain a photo identification card or Owl Card, from the Bryn Mawr OneCard office ($10 fee), located in the Ward facilities building.  Membership rates can be found at the bottom of this page and on the application.  Dependent children under the age of twelve are permitted to use the facility (not the fitness center), if accompanied by a member parent or member spouse/partner of a parent. 

All members must possess a valid Bryn Mawr College I.D. or a valid Owl Card to gain access to the building and use of all facilities. A valid Bryn Mawr ID or Onecard is required to obtain entry into the building and is required for entry into the fitness center.  Access to the building and the fitness center is gained by swiping a valid OneCard at the card reader found outside the main entrance to the building and at the Fitness desk.  Bryn Mawr I.D. cards and Owl Cards are non-transferable; if lost or stolen a $10.00 replacement fee will be assessed.  All members must be prepared to show their card to a student monitor or a staff member if requested. 

Members are permitted to use the fitness center, pool and the Class of 1958 Gymnasium during specified times.  Please refer to the athletics home page for additional information concerning the facility and building schedules.  Please note the gymnasium is available during selected times for recreational use and Fit Club programming.  All other use of the gym is not permitted.  The Bryn Mawr Fit Club is open to Bryn Mawr students, faculty and staff only.

Guest policy

All guests must be 18 years or older to use the Bern Schwartz Fitness and Athletic Center.   Guests must sign-in with their sponsor member, have a photo-ID, and must be accompanied by their sponsor member at all times in the facility. Members may sponsor one guest per week.  Same guests are limited to using the facility to twice per semester.  There are no guest passes for individuals not accompanied by a current member.

  • Spouse/Partner of Bryn Mawr College Alumni - $275 per year
  • Seven Sister Alumni - $325 per year
  • Spouse/Partner of Seven Sister Alumni - $375 per year
  • Spouse/Partner of Haverford Faculty/Staff - $300 per year
