BADMINTON WINS IBA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Bryn Mawr, Pa. – The Owls defeated the University of Pennsylvania and Princeton to win the Intercollegiate Badminton Associated (IBA) Championships Saturday afternoon.

The Owls started off with the day with a 5-4 victory over UPenn. The No. 1 doubles team of Ashley Himelfarb and Belinda Leung won 21-11, 21-8, while the No. 3 duo of Priscy Pias and Simona Radu were victorious 21-5, 21-10.

In singles action, Pias won at the #4 spot 21-19, 21-19, as Markie Hill won at the number 5 slot 21-8, 21-13. Whitney Chambers won her No. 6 bout 21-9, 18-21, 21-16.

Bryn Mawr topped Princeton en route to their 2008 IBA Championship. The #2 and #3 doubles teams of Jeanette Kwon/Hill and Pias/Radu were winners, 21-8, 21-10, and 21-5, 21-6, respectively.

In singles, Kwon won 21-16, 21-17 from the No.3 spot while Pais was victorious21-10, 21-12, in the four slot. Jennifer Huh and Erika Lippholdt, #5 and #6 singles, won their matches 21-6, 21-8, and 21-12, 21-7, respectively.
