Baltimore, Md. – Junior co-captain Jessica Allen posted a team high 23 points and a game-high 12 rebounds en route to her first double-double of the season as the Owls fell to Mary Baldwin 59-64.
The Squirrels took a 29-27 lead into the half despite neither team recording a basket for the first 2:21 of the game. At the half, Allen had 15 points and seven rebounds as Shanika Bridges-King and Katie Driscoll netted 5 points apiece. Bridges-King ended the game with 17 points and 6 rebounds while Driscoll finished the night with 12.
With 2:55 remaining in the game, Bridges-King connected on two free-throws to give the Owls a one-point advantage. One minute and forty-two seconds later, MBC’s Iisesha Ricks made one of two free-throws to tie the game at 58, the eighth time on the evening. Lindsay Callison and Ricks combined to go 6-6 from the charity stripe in the final 41 seconds to secure the 64-59 victory.
Bryn Mawr falls to 0-1 on the season as Mary Baldwin improves to 1-0. The Owls will face Hollins University tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. in the third place game of the Women’s College Tip-Off Tournament hosted by the College of Notre Dame (Md.).
