Bryn Mawr, Pa. – Senior co-captain Katie Driscoll netted a season-high 21 points as the Owls clipped the Eastern University Eagles 57-38 in non-conference action.
Bryn Mawr took a 29-18 lead into the half as they outshot the Eagles 33.3% - 28.0%. In the second half, the Owls connected for 50 percent of their shots to secure their home opener victory.
Driscoll shot 6-11(54.5%) from the floor, 5-8 (62.5%) from beyond the arch, and 4-5 from the charity stripe. Junior co-captain Jessica Allen picked up her third double-double of the season with 17 points and 17 rebounds (two offensive and 15 defensive). Junior Julia Harris added eight points and four assists as sophomore Shanika Bridges-King tallied five points, three rebounds, and three steals.
Leading Eastern was Shanelle Timothy with 11 points and nine rebounds. Jeriah Garton added six points as Shaneen Brown totaled six boards.
The Owls outshot the Eagles on the game (40.0% - 22.2%), despite being out rebounded 50-43. Bryn Mawr forced Eastern to turn the ball over 16 times and recorded 14 assists on the evening.
Bryn Mawr evens their record at 2-2 as the Eagles fall to 0-4. The Owls return to action as they travel to McDaniel on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference show-down.
