BASKETBALL GETS FIRST WIN OF ‘08

Claremont, Calif. – The Owls are 1-0 in the New Year as they upended Pomona-Pitzer 62-49 in non-conference action.

Pacing the Owls was junior Julia Harris with 18 points two assists, two steals, and one clock shot. Junior Jessica Allen chipped in 16 points and nine rebounds as sophomore Shanika Bridges-King contributed 15 points. Sophomore Caroline Heffernan added a game-high 10 rebounds while senior co-captain Katie Driscoll tallied nine points.

Bryn Mawr led at the half, 27-21, tacking on 35 more in the second en route to their third win of the season.

Bryn Mawr polished glass as they out rebounded P-P 48-29 while forcing eight turnovers. The Owls out-shot Pomona-Pitzer 66.7%-60.0% for the game and hit 40.0% of their shots from the charity stripe.

The Owls improve to 3-6 as Pomona-Pitzer drops to 1-8. Bryn Mawr stays in California as they travel to Claremont-Mudd-Scrips Sunday, January 6. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. PST.
