Baltimore, Md. – Junior co-captain Jessica Allen bucketed 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds en route to her fifth double-double of the year as the Owls fell to host Johns Hopkins 63-57 in conference action Saturday afternoon.
Senior co-captain Katie Driscoll netted a game-high 20 points and sophomore Shanika Bridges-King pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds. Allen and freshman Emilie Naccarato dished out a team-high three assists as Allen recorded three block shots.
Despite being down 32-19 at the half, the Owls battled back in the second as they outscored the Jays 38-31 and took the lead with 6:57 on a Driscoll bucket from downtown. Hopkins regained the lead at 6:22 and never looked back. The Jays held Bryn Mawr to 14 points in the game’s final six minutes while they put 20 points on the board to secure the win.
Leading Hopkins was Lyndsay Burton with 16 points and Andrea Dodrill with 12 rebounds.
The Owls outshot Hopkins 34.5%-32.4% from the field and 47.6%-10.0% from beyond the arch. The Blue Jays held a 73.7%-69.2% advantage from the charity stripe as well as a 50-38 lead in rebounding.
The Owls are now 3-9 overall and 0-6 in Centennial action as Johns Hopkins improves to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in conference play. Bryn Mawr returns to action on Tuesday night as they host rival Haverford at 7:00 p.m. in Schwartz Gymnasium.
