Haverford, Pa. – Jessica Allen registered a team-high 20 points as the Owls defeated the Fords 50-46 in Centennial Conference. The victory secured Bryn Mawr the season sweep over their cross-town rival.
Bryn Mawr took the lead for good with 9:54 remaining in the second half as Shanika Bridges-King bucketed two of her 10 points with a baseline jumper. About five minutes later, Haverford’s Erica Juliano pulled her team within one, but back-to-back buckets by Allen secured Bryn Mawr the victory.
In addition to her 20 points, Allen registered 13 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block. Bridges-King and Caroline Heffernan grabbed 13 rebounds each. Emilie Naccarato chipped in 11 points
For Haverford, Brittany Lattisaw bucketed a game-high 22 points as Juliano added 14.
Despite being outshot on the floor (33.3%-26.9%), the Owls went 8-11 (72.7%) from the charity stripe and held a 57-30 advantage in rebounding.
The win moves Bryn Mawr to 5-18 overall and 2-14 in conference action while Haverford falls to 3-19 and 0-16 in Centennial play. The Owls return to action as they host Franklin and Marshall Saturday afternoon in Schwartz Gymnasium. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
