2011 Cross Country Season Outlook
The 2011 edition of Bryn Mawr cross country has some big shoes to fill after a strong 2010 season. Last year’s had many successes, including a win at the Dukes Invitational and a second place finish at the Mule/Falcon invitational. Under the direction of second-year head coach Jason Hewitt, the Owls will look to improve on their 32nd finish at last season’s NCAA Mid-Eat Regionals.
"The team is strong this year. We have a lot of great energy and the
perfect combination of strong returners and talented first years. I look
forward to seeing what this team can do,” stated second-year head coach
Jason Hewitt.
Returning four of the top runners from last year’s Mid-Atlantic Regional team, Bryn Mawr looks poised for another strong season. Last year’s top runner Kristina Kronauer returns for her junior campaign and will joined by veterans Emily Bell, Cassie Kosarek and Anna Melker.
While the experienced squad will be hoping to improve on their times from last year, they will be joined by a slew of newcomers to the program. First years Emily Brownawell, Claudia Keep, and Kim Wiley should all contribute during their first season with the Owls.
Elsie Chung and Georgia Robles will also add some much needed depth to the team while Lara Belasco and Sarah Macholdt may prove to be the dark horses this season. With a deep roster and an energetic group, the Bryn Mawr cross country teamlooks to be one of the stronger teams in recent years.
Bryn Mawr’s 2011 campaign will begin on Friday, Sept. 2, when the Owls host the Bryn Mawr Invite at Rose Tree Park in Media, Pa. The race will start at 5:45 pm.
