Experienced Runners will be Backbone of Team

Entering his eleventh season as Head Coach Dan Talbot will rely on his experienced runners to be the backbone of his team. The team returns five of last year's top seven, including top runner Katie Weng, who earned All-Seven Sisters and All-Mideast Region honors in cross country and and ran an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 10,000 meters this spring.

SEASON SNAP-SHOT
The team opens with a time-trial at Haverford College on August 31st. After a week off from competition the Owls compete at the Mule/Falcon Invite on September 15th, then preview the Conference Championship course in the September 22nd Battle for the Buggy at Franklin & Marshall. The next week the team gets a look at the NCAA Regional course, traveling to the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University on September 28th. The championship season begins with a trip to Wellesley for 7-Sisters, and peaks with the Centennial Conference Championships on October 27 th and NCAA Mideast Regionals on November 10th.

In addition to Weng, Talbot will rely on the experienced legs of senior Giovanna Hayward, sophomores Tess Clancy and Jessica Varney and juniors Julia Lustick and Virginia Tseng to lead the team. Returning runners Kate Duguid and Maggie Lloyd look to build on their promising 2006 seasons, and sophomore Lucy Wackman joins the team after making strong contributions to the track & field team in her freshman year. Newcomers Ariel Puleo, Julie Griffin, Jesse Solomon, Margaux Kearney, Petra Giblin and Kyla Quillin will work to earn spots on the varsity.

The team kicks off their season on August 31, as they travel down the Main Line to run in the Haverford College Time Trials. Race starts at 5:00 p.m.
