Swarthmore, Pa. – Midfielders Moriah Scott and Greta Flaherty netted four goals each as lacrosse fell to the Moravian Greyhounds 15-9 in the first game of the 2008 Tri-Co Invite hosted by Swarthmore College.
Cara Sogliuzzo netted the Owls other goal while Evan Schneider and Caroline Heffernan registered assists. Katie Kellom paced Bryn Mawr with three draw controls as Scott and Sogliuzzo picked up two each.
Flaherty had a team-high six caused turnovers as Stephanie Wujcik caused four. Kellom and Vas Stair registered three apiece. Junior goalie Stephanie Hilton picked up a team-high five ground balls while Wujcik snagged four off the turf. Hilton posted 19 saves between the pipes.
The Owls were 11-22 on clears and held a 25-24 advantage in ground balls. The Owls were successful on two-of-eight free position shots and Moravian held an 18-8 lead with draw controls.
Jillian Pagliei and Lynda Kauffman led the Greyhounds with four goals apiece while Shannon Algeo and Georgia Castellano added two each. Maurenn Helfers dished out a game-high three assists.
The Owls return to action on Sunday, March 16, as they will take on the Alvernia Crusaders in day two action of the invitational. Game time is set for 12:00 noon on Clothier Field at Swarthmore College
