Allentown, Pa. – Junior goalie, Steph Hilton, posted 20 saves as the Mules defeated Bryn Mawr 19-5 in league play Tuesday afternoon.
Muhlenberg took a commanding 14-1 lead into the half and added five more in the second to top the Owls. BMC’s lone first-half goal came from Greta Flaherty at the 25:36 mark.
Bryn Mawr scored four second-half goals as Moriah Scott netted two. Flaherty and Jessica Wurtz scored the other two goals. Wurtz added an assist as she helped Flaherty score her second goal of the game.
Jessica Lee grabbed five groundballs as Hilton snagged three in front of the goal. Flaherty added two draw controls while Hilton forced four turnovers.
Leading the Mules with five goals and one assist was Ruth Morrongiello. Taylor Armstrong posted a double hat trick with three goals and three assists. Two others scored two goals while seven netted one.
Muhlenberg won 21 of the 26 draws and was 9-11 on clears. Bryn Mawr held a 17-16 advantage in groundballs and went 7-for-18 with clears.
Bryn Mawr drops to 3-8, 0-6 in Centennial action as Muhlenberg improves to 9-3 overall and 4-3 in league play. The Owls return to action on Thursday, April 10, as they host Cedar Crest in a non-conference game. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
