FORDE LIFTS SOCCER OVER PHILADELPHIA BIBLE WITH TWO GOALS

Bryn Mawr, Pa. – Freshman midfielder Jilian Forde netted two goals as the Owls topped the Crimson Eagles 3-1 in non-conference action Thursday afternoon.

Sophomore Laura Costanzo got the Owls on the board first in the eleventh minute with an unassisted goal. In the thirty-seventh minute Forde scored her first goal from 25 yards out to give Bryn Mawr a 2-0 half-time lead.

Six minutes into the second-half, Forde took a pass from freshman Sarah Matteson and blasted her shot by Eagles' keeper Melissa Landis at 51:53. Philly Bible got on the board three minutes later as Brittany Sparling connected on a direct kick.

In goal for the Owls, junior Collette Pullion and senior Sarah Simons collected 5 saves a piece.

Although the Eagles outshot (25-15) and held a lead in corners (5-1), two stellar defensive saves by Bryn Mawr guaranteed them the win.

Bryn Mawr is now 3-2 on the season and will open up conference play against Gettysburg on Saturday, September 15. Opening kick is set for 1:00 p.m.
