Owls Shutout Shorewomen, 1-0

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Bryn Mawr scored the only goal of the game in the fifth minute of a 1-0 win over host Washington College in a Centennial Conference women's soccer game tonight on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Owls improved to 5-11-1 overall and 1-9 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 1-16 and 0-9 with the loss.

Sophomore midfielder Laura Costanzo (Short Hills, NJ/Millburn) put the Owls on the board at 4:57 with the only goal of the game when she stole a pass near midfield and scored an unassisted goal on the resulting breakaway. Her second goal of the season proved to be the game-winner. Washington's last quality scoring chance came at 85:28 when senior forward Megan Russell took a shot that Bryn Mawr's junior goalkeeper Collette Pullion (Edgewater Park, NJ/Holy Cross) dove to save in the left-hand corner of the goal. Bryn Mawr held a 17-12 advantage in shots in the game. Each team recorded two corner kicks. Pullion made six saves for the Owls, collecting her third shutout of the season, while sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Grier made 11 stops for Washington.

The Owls return to action Saturday with their season finale - a 2:00 p.m. kick-off at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY.
