TENNIS OPENS SPRING SLATE AGAINST CALVIN COLLEGE

Orlando, Fla. – The Bryn Mawr College tennis team opened up their spring schedule with a 0-9 loss to Calvin College Tuesday afternoon in sunny Florida.

In doubles action, the #1 team of Karen Ginsburg and Mimi Nguyen fell to Oosterhouse/Strikwerda 8-6 despite holding a 6-5 lead. The number two team of Marie Sager and April Lee were shutout 8-0 by Spoelhof and Van Veen. Melissa Mansh and Leah Raj dropped their number three bout 8-5 to Geenen/DeGroot.

For singles, Ginsburg lost at the number rank 6-0, 6-0 to Oosterhouse as Sager dropped her #2 match 6-0, 6-1 to Spoelhof. Mansh, at number 3 singles fell to Geenen 6-1, 6-0 while Strikwerda defeated Lee 6-2, 6-0. Raj, despite playing a great match, lost in straight sets 7-5, 7-5 to Van Veen and Chelsea Miller, playing the number 6 slot, lost to Bushhouse 6-1, 6-1.

The Owls are now 2-1 on the season. They return to action Wednesday, March 12, as they will play Michigan Tech at 1:00 p.m. The match will be played at Sanlando Park in Orlando, Fla.
