MICHIGAN TECH DOWNS TENNIS IN ORLANDO

Orlando, Fla. – The Owls dropped a non-conference match-up 0-9 to Michigan Tech Wednesday afternoon at Sanlando Park in Orlando, Florida.

Michigan Tech jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead as Oliveros/Rondelli defeated Karen Ginsburg and Mimi Nguyen 8-1 at the number 1 slot. In #2 action, Marie Sager and April Lee fell to Palmgren/Stoll 3-8 as Melissa Mansh and Leah Raj lost to Jang-Stewart/Otunchiera 8-2 in the third position.

In singles action, Ginburg fell to Palmgren 6-0, 6-1 in the number one slot. Sager and Mansh lost their bouts 6-0, 6-0 to Oliveros and Jang-Stewart, respectively. Lee, despite having long fought rallies, was out maneuvered by Rondellie 6-0, 6-2 at the #4 position. Amanda Preston dropped her number five match 6-10, 6-0 to Otunchiera and Marianne Leung was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Stoll in their number six match.

Playing an exhibition match, Chelsea Miller lost to Schoep 8-6 despite playing a great match.

The tennis team is now 2-2 on the season and will return to action tomorrow afternoon. They will play the University of Rochester at 1:00 p.m. at Sanlando Park.
