Orlando, Fla. – The Bryn Mawr tennis team wrapped up their 2008 spring break trip with a 2-7 loss to the University of Rochester Thursday afternoon.
In doubles action, the team of Melissa Mansh and April Lee defeated Taveri.Katz 8-2. The number two team of Karen Ginsburg and Marie Sager dropped their decision to Cross/Polivy 2-8. Playing together for the first time, the #1 duo of Leah Raj and Mimi Nguyen were topped by Weiner/Perry 8-1.
Sager was the Owls lone singles victory at the number three slot as she battled back from behind in both sets to win 7-5, 6-4. At the number four position, Lee was down 4-1 in the first set and came back to take it 7-5 but was unable to win the point for the Owls as she dropped the second and third set 6-0, 10-7, respectively. Playing number one singles, Ginsburg was defeated 6-0, 6-1 while Mansh fell in her match to Perry 6-0, 6-0 in the number two position. In the number five spot Amanda Preston fell 6-2, 6-1 as Chelsea Miller dropped her match in straight sets 6-2, 6-0.
The Owls return from Florida with a 2-3 record as they prepare to kick off their Centennial conference schedule against Swarthmore. Bryn Mawr will be on the road as the two rivals will battle on Wednesday, March 19, at 3:30
