TENNIS DROPS HEARTBREAKER TO FRANKLIN AND MARSHALL

Bryn Mawr, Pa.April Lee was a double winner on the afternoon as Bryn Mawr fell to visiting F&M 5-4 in conference action.

The Owls jumped out to an early 2-1 lead after doubles. The No.1 team of Karen Ginsburg and Marie Sager defeated Barish/Wood 8-1. The number three team of Melissa Mansh and Lee topped Ishkanian/Harteg 8-5.

In singles, Ginsburg at the #1 position lost to Barish 6-4, 6-4 while Mansh fell to Ishkanian 6-0, 6-0, at the #4 spot. Raj lost to Koss 6-0, 6-1, in the No. 5 spot. Sager, at the No. 2 spot defeated Russo 6-3, 6-2, and Lee topped Tylus 7-6(5), 6-1, from the six position.

With the match tied at 4-4, Mimi Nguyen was battling Wood, at the No. 2 singles position. Nguyen won the first set 6-2, but dropped the second 2-6. In the third and final set, with the match on the line, Wood jumped out to an early lead and held of Nguyen in the long run to win the set 6-1.

The loss drops the Owls to 3-11 and 0-5 in Centennial action while the Diplomats improve to 3-4 and 2-2 in league play. Bryn Mawr will return to action on April 12, as they host Johns Hopkins at 12:00 p.m.
