2012 Spring Season Outlook

“I’m excited for my fourth Spring season,” stated head coach Jill Breslin. “This team has both the potential and depth to become more competitive in the Centennial Conference. The team has a goal this season to be .500 in league play, and to be honest, that is very capable with the quality of young women on this team”

Leading the Owls this season and playing at the No. 1 position in both singles and doubles is senior co-captain Anna Perocchi. Bryn Mawr’s top player the last three seasons, Perocchi’s quickness, consistency and shot selection, will allow her to grind out the long rallies and win tough points.

The team’s other co-captain, senior Zoe Odenwalder, returns for her fourth year wearing the Yellow and White. Her hard work and dedication to both her own game as well as the program, has helped her develop her skills and make mature decisions on and off the court. Odenwalder’s infectious enthusiasm and intensity has made a positive impact on both her teammates and the program.

Also contributing the last four years to the Bryn Mawr tennis program, seniors Elizabeth Olecki and Melani Shafer, will continue to play a vital role in the Owls line-up.

The sophomore trio of Vivien Chen, Eliza Perocchi and Jenny Vogel will be a mainstay in the singles line-up, while classmate Caty Austin will play an integral roll in the success of either the No. 2 or No. 3 doubles tandem.

Rounding out the 2012 Spring line-up is sophomore Sarah Gilmour while the triad of freshmen Chloe Barron, Rachel Genovese and Alyssa Young will provide the team with a newfound depth.

With a core group of returners and a slew of young players, Bryn Mawr tennis has not only high hopes this Spring, but for seasons to come.
