TRACK WRAPS-UP DAY ONE ACTION AT CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Collegeville, Pa. – Two school records were broken and the Owls are currently in seventh place as day one action of the 2008 Centennial Conference Track and Field Championships comes to a close.

Junior Katie Weng took third place in the 5000 meters and set yet another school record. A personal best time of 18:37.83 topped Melissa Leddle’s mark of 18:40.09 that was set back in 2004. This is Weng’s second indoor record; she hold’s the 3000 meter record with a time 10:38.47. She also holds the 5000 and 10,000 meter record in outdoor.

The 4x200 relay team of Marge Cheng, Aigne Goldsby, Leah Weightman, and Akua Nyame-Mensah shattered the school record and finished two places higher than they were seeded with a time of 1:54.69. It's the first school record for Cheng, Goldsby, and Weightman, as Nyame-Mensah holds four, three indoor and one outdoor.

Goldsby set a personal best in the 55 hurdles while Cheng crushed her personal best in the 55 dash.  In the 55 meters, Nyame-Mensah qualified for the finals as the fifth seed.

Bryn Mawr returns to action on Sunday as the championships wrap-up. The first race is set for 10:30 a.m.
