TWO SCHOOL RECORDS BROKEN AS OWLS FINISH 9th AT CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Collegeville, Pa.Akua Nyame-Mensah broke her own school records in the 200 and 400 meters as Bryn Mawr finished ninth at the 2008 Centennial Conference Championships.

Nyame-Mensah took home bronze medals in the 200 (26.66) and 400 (60.08) while taking home sixth place in the 55 meters despite feeling under the weather. In the 200 meters, Marge Cheng won her heat by running a personal best of 27.98. She ranks third on the all-time list and is the second fastest time since the team became a varsity sport.

The 4x400 relay of Cheng, Kate Duguid, Aigne Goldsby, and Leah Weightman ran an excellent race crossing the finish line with a time of 4:41.05. Dugiuid, Giovanna Hayward, Christine Lee, and Ariel Puleo teamed-up and scored a crucial team point in the 4x800 relay. Lee set a personal best time for the 400 meters during her leg of the 4x800.

Head coach Dan Talbot was pleased with his team’s performance and was happy with everyone’s contribution. He stated “Overall, this was an excellent meet and a true team effort. I am proud of my team.”

The Owls return to the oval on March 29 as they travel to Widener for their first meet of the outdoor season. The first gun is set to fire at 11:00 a.m.
