TRACK AND FIELD KEEPS SETTING RECORDS

West Chester, Pa. – Many new personal and one school record were set when the Bryn Mawr track and field team traveled to West Chester University for the WCU Invite, Friday and Saturday.

The meet started on Friday and the tempo was sent for the weekend. In the discus, Grace Kung threw a new personal record in a big way with an 88’9 heave. Katie Kent threw a season best 34.13m. Katie Weng and Jess Varney wrapped-up BMC’s Friday as both ran in the 5k.

Saturday got off to a poor start, as the 4 x 100 relay dropped the baton and Akua Nyame-Mensah false-started in the 100 meters. April Stewart got the teams moral up then she ran to a personal record of 14.04 in the 100m.

After a 30 minute delay due to lightning in the area, Kung set a new personal best in the shot put and Kate Duguid shattered her personal best time in the 800 by four seconds. In the 200 meters, Nyame-Mensah set a new school record with a 25.74 while Marge Chen and Stewart set personal best times of 27.78 and 28.74, respectively. In the same event, Jane Tseng ran a 29.11 while Ashley Dawkins ran a 30.17, both personal bests.

In the 4 x400 relay Stewart led off with her third personal record of the day, while Dawkins, Duguid, and Tseng all ran excellent legs at the end of a long, hot day.

The Owls return to action when they travel to Widener April 18 and 19, in Chester, Pa. The meet will start at 10:00 a.m.
