Gettysburg, Pa. – Junior Katie Kent took third place in the women’s discus in second day action of the 2008 Centennial Conference Outdoor Championships.
Kent’s heave of 36.35 meters set a new school record. Her toss of 119’03 ft. beats her own record of 118’4”, set two years ago. She missed taking the silver by 1 centimeter.
In other day two action, Akua Nyame-Mensah is seeded second for the 200 meter dash finals with a 25.98. Finals will take place Sunday morning. Nyame-Mensah heads into the finals for the 400 meter dash, seeded second.
Marge Chen ran a time of 13.11 in the 100 meter dash; she is currently in fifth for the Sunday finals.
There was seven personal records set today. Jess Varney in the steeplechase, Cheng and April Stewart in the 100 and 200, Kent in the discus, and Aigne Goldsby in the 100 hurdles. Head Coach Dan Talbot was impressed with everyone's performance.
Friday evening, Katie Weng finished 13th in the 10,000 meter run.
Action resumes Sunday morning for the final day of the championships.
