Allentown, Pa. – The Owls kicked off their 2007 campaign by winning two matches at the Cedar Crest tri-match Saturday afternoon in Allentown.
Bryn Mawr won their first match over Penn St. – Abington 30-16, 27-30, 30-20, 30-16. Julia Harris led the owls with 18 kills (.266) while Katie Kronbergs added 11 (.296). Junior Elizabeth Sinclair anchored the defense as she picked up 15 digs while chipping in 9 kills while first-year libero Ashton Shaffer collected 14 digs.
In game two against the Falcons of Cedar Crest, it took 5 games for the Owls to pick up the win. Again, Sinclair led the defense with 30 digs. First year setter Emma Wiesniewski-Barker set a balanced attack while Harris knocked down 19 shots and Sinclair added 17 kills (.350). Hannah Davis and Kronbergs combined for 25 kills while sophomore middle blocker Trish Urena contributed 9 of her own. The Owls won the marathon match as game five went down to the wire securing Bryn Mawr the 30-24, 25-30, 30-23, 31-33, 15-13 win.
Bryn Mawr is now 2-0 on the season and will host a quad match next weekend, Sept. 8th, starting at 10:00 a.m. The other three teams will include Immaculata, Penn St.–Berks, and Valley Forge Christian
