St. Mary's City, Md. – Junior Julia Harris paced the Owls with 32 kills and 19 blocks at the St. Mary's College Quad Match despite Bryn Mawr going 0-3 at the weekend tournament.
In the first match of the day against host St. Mary's, Harris and senior Katie Kronbergs combined for 15 kills, eight and seven, respectively. Harris ended the game with a .333 hitting percentage and six solo blocks while Kronbergs hit for .700 percent. St. Mary's won 3-0 (30-15, 30-19, 30-17).
In the nooner, against Goucher College, junior Elizabeth Sinclair had 14 kills (.367 hitting percentage) and 18 digs while freshman Ashton Shaffer and Emma Wisniewski-Barker combined for 33 digs. Harris finished the second match with 7 total blocks. The Gophers defeated the Owls 3-1 (30-19, 28-30, 30-15, 30-22).
The last and final match of the day took all five games decided and in the end Mount St. Mary's (N.Y.) came out on top 3-2 (25-30, 30-24, 32-30, 30-32, 15-6). Harris tallied 15 kills (.326) and 6 blocks solo as Kronbergs added 15 kills (.314) of her own. Sinclair and Shaffer combined for 44 digs with Sinclair adding 6 service aces. Wisniewski-Barker ended the game with 39 assists.
The Owls fall to 6-8 on the season and will return to action on Thursday, October 4, as they host conference rival Swarthmore in Schwartz Gymnasium. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. -St. Mary's (Md.) Box Score-
