VOLLEYBALL GOES 1-1 ON DAY ONE OF SEVEN SISTERS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – Bryn Mawr split on the first day of the 2007 Seven Sisters Volleyball Championships with a win 3-0 over Mount Holyoke in the opening match before falling 0-3 to host Vassar in the second game.

In their first game with Mount Holyoke, the Owls defeated the Blue 30-20, 30-20, 30-26. Despite many threats from the Blue, the Owls, led by junior Julia Harris sealed the win with a kill to take the third game 30-26. Harris ended the game with 21 kills, seven digs, as well as two solo blocks and two block assists. Senior captain Katie Kronbergs supplied Bryn Mawr with11 kills and two service aces as junior Elizabeth Sinclair chipped din 10 kills and 14 digs. Freshman Emma Wisniewski-Barker added 39 assists and 13 digs.

In the second match with host Vassar, Harris had 11 kills and 1 solo block as freshman Ashton Shaffer dug 13 shots and one ace. Sinclair added eight kills and nine digs while Wisniewski-Barker tallied 23 assists and eight digs.

With their 1-1 record on the day, the Owls will face Smith College for third place on Sunday. The Owls are now 9-10 on the season.
