My research centers on pollination ecology and spans conservation biology, animal behavioral and evolutionary ecology. Our lab is currently investigating the role of native bees as crop pollinators and the effects of landscape composition and local habitat quality on their persistence in agro-natural ecosystems. A continuing goal is to provide practical information that can be used to for pollinator conservation and management strategies. We are also studying how habitat restoration affects pollinator communities and pollination function. In the realm of evolutionary ecology, we are investigating temporal and spatial dynamics of bee-plant interactions and seeks to understand the extent to which specialized interactions have affected and continue to influence the ecology and evolution of both plant and pollinator within a community context.
