Past Events:
April 10 Dance Presentation, 12pm at Belmont Charter School. In collaboration with the Belmont Mentoring Program, the Body Image Council presented information about eating disorders followed by a dance about body image.
March 28 Body Image Discussion Forum. What is body image? Where does it come from? What does it mean to you? Come and discuss body image in general. Begins at 7pm in the Dorothy Vernon Room.
The theme for the 2007 National Eating Disorders Awareness Month was “Be Comfortable in Your Genes.”
Month of February Jeans Drive: Throw your old or ‘skinny’ jeans into our box in the Campus Center. Don’t fight your genes, just change your jeans!
February 5-9 Movie Nights: A brief viewing and discussion of films looking at eating disorders and other body image issues. Information and popcorn to be provided.

February 12 Body Image Art Therapy: Led by Nancy Lubow, a licensed art and music therapist. Begins at 7pm in the Quita Woodward Room (located in the back of Thomas). Use art in a therapeutic way to connect with your body.
Life Without Ed: How One Woman Declared Independence from Her Eating Disorder and How You Can Too. An inspirational presentation by author and singer-songwriter Jenni Schaefer. Presented in the fall of 2006.
A Thousand Hungers: A Multiracial View of Eating Problems and Recovery. A presentation by sociologist Becky Thompson, author of A Hunger So Wide and So Deep. Presented in the fall of 2005.
Slim Hopes: Advertising, Relationships & the Obsession with Thinness
A Presentation by Jean Kilbourne, award-winning speaker and author of the documentary "Killing Us Softly." Presented in the fall of 2004.
EMBODIMENT/MOVEMENT WORKSHOP led by Harin Feibish, L.C.S.W. This workshop is meant to help women learn to fully inhabit their bodies through movement therapy and visualization exercises.

Since 2001, BIC has co-sponosored an annual performance of Eve Ensler's play The Vagina Monologues.
Performances in 2007 will be held in Thomas Great Hall.
The Vulvapalooza (a women's health information fair) will be held before each performance at in Thomas Great Hall.
