The Bryn Mawr College Bookshop provides new and used textbooks for Fall,
Spring and Summer classes at Bryn Mawr College. We attempt to make
available as many used books as possible in order to lower the cost of
textbooks for students. The cost of textbooks can average between $300
and $500 for a semester depending on courses. Fall semester textbooks
are available in mid-August. Spring semester textbooks are available on
the first day of class. The return period for textbooks will be posted
in the Bookshop. At the end of each semester the Bookshop conducts a
"buyback". If we have an order for the next semester, we buy the books
at 50% of the new price. If we don't have an order for the next
semester, we pay the national wholesale value of the book. That can be
up to 30% of the new book price. Those books are shipped to a wholesale
distributor that sells them to other bookstores.
