Facilities for the Arts

Goodhart Hall, which houses the Office of the Arts and which is the College’s main performance space for theater and dance, will undergo extensive renovations in 2008-09.  New seating and an extended performance space will provide greater intimacy for the audience while accommodating a wider range of presentations and performances. Another significant addition will be the addition of a new teaching studio/theater. During this period the College will continue to utilize nontraditional spaces on campus for productions of an intimate and/or experimental nature for the Theatre Program, Performance Arts Series, Chamber Music and student work. Students may continue to reserve time in four temporary music practice rooms on campus all of which are furnished with grand pianos.
The College has a dance studio over Pembroke Arch, which also serves as a smaller performance space, and is creating a second dance studio in Denbigh Hall for early 2009.

The M. Carey Thomas Great Hall provides a large space for concerts, readings, lectures, and music events.

Arnecliffe Studio houses the program in painting and printmaking, and there are two additional drawing/drafting studios in Rockefeller Hall.

Creative writing classes, workshops and readings take place in English House and the M. Carey Thomas Great Hall.
