Norristown Community

Norristown Area School District

The Norristown Area School District (NASD) serves and educates the students and community of Norristown and the surrounding areas.

Bryn Mawr has partnered with NASD at the Norristown Area High School, East Norriton Middle School, Whitehall and Gotwals Elementary Schools. Through the service learning Praxis program at Bryn Mawr, undergraduate students have had the opportunity to learn from the Norristown Area School District staff and teachers as they serve as supervisors, mentors and panelists.

Gotwals Elementary School

Gotwals Elementary School is located in the borough of Norristown, a 10 minute walk from the Norristown Transportation Center, and serves approximately 360 students in its K-4 classrooms. Gotwals is one of six elementary schools and five upper level schools in the Norristown Area School District.

CPIA has made an active commitment to the Gotwals staff and community, engaging in discussions about the programs that we support and the partnership as a whole. Many Bryn Mawr College Praxis students have had their field placements at Gotwals since 2005 and the Civic Engagement Office has developed GASP, an after-school program for first and second graders.
