Zion Baptist Church, located on Spring Avenue in Ardmore, is the site of the Civic Engagement Office’s Ardmore Community Tutoring (ACT) Program. The church has a history of civic involvement and was a founding member of the SAGES—Spring Avenue Generational Educational Services partnership dedicated to supporting the education of local young people in Ardmore. Zion’s leadership and members are active participants in local government with membership on the local school board and in other influential community organizations.
Zion Baptist Church hosts the Bryn Mawr work study tutors in the ACT program Monday – Thursday evenings throughout the academic year. In addition to providing dedicated space for the tutoring program, Pastor Virginia Pollard and Ms. Sharon Aylor assist in recruiting students and helping the Civic Engagement Office with outreach in the Ardmore community.
