Summer Service Opportunities

Harris Wofford Summer of National Service


In honor of Harris Wofford, former President of Bryn Mawr College and retired Chairman of the Corporation for National Service, the Bryn Mawr College Civic Engagement Office sponsors the Harris Wofford Summer of National Service, an opportunity for one selected student to spend the summer interning for a public service organization anywhere in the United States . The recipient of the Harris Wofford Summer of National Service opportunity receives a summer stipend/living allowance to facilitate her work.

Application Information

Applications for the 2013 Harris Wofford Summer of National Service will be available in the Spring.  

All applications must be submitted online.  

Applicants must be undergraduate Bryn Mawr students completing their freshman, sophomore, or junior year. Students who plan to be at Bryn Mawr in the fall 2012 will be given special consideration. Applicants MUST have identified a project or internship at the time of application.

A completed application includes: 

  • Completed application form (see above link)
  • A description of your internship and/or project, including a description of the organization, target population, proposed work or project, and a personal statement addressing how the opportunity fits with your ongoing interest in service or activism
  • A sponsorship letter from the agency or organization where you will perform your service activities

A personal interview with Civic Engagement Office staff will be required of all final candidates.
