BUFFERS & TITRATIONS PROBLEM
ANSWER

Exercise

The solutions in a and b of the previous exercise are buffers. Why are they buffers? Which solution would be a better buffer against added acid? Which solution would be a better buffer against added base?

Answer

Buffer solution b (pH = 11.3) will be a better solution against added acid since it constains more base. Since buffer solution a (pH = 10.0) contains more acid, it will be a better buffer against added base.
