The University of Delaware Art Gallery houses an African collection which includes drums, figures, masks, Ashanti gold figures, textiles, sculpture, baskets, archeological materials, and ethnographic materials. Regions represented by the collection include Ghana (Ashanti); Ivory Coast (Baule, Guro, Senufo); Liberia (Mende, Vai); Nigeria (Yoruba); Mali (Dogon, Bambara); Cameroon (Bamun); Upper Volta (Mossi); Zaire (Mangbetu); Angola (Ovunbundu); and Egypt (Ancient). |

Hours: The University Gallery is open year round (with the exception of the month of August and during the installation of changing exhibitions). Access to the African Art is by appointment for scholars, students, and the general public. Please call at least 48 hours in advance or write to make an appointment to view the African Collection.
Tuesday-Friday: 11:00am to 5:00pm
Saturday-Sunday: 1:00pm to 5:00pm
Closed Mondays and University of Delaware holidays
