Mathematica for Student Use

This Mathematica download is provided only for current Bryn Mawr College students and can only be downloaded when connected to the Bryn Mawr campus network.  Once installed, the license will work only when connected to the Bryn Mawr, Haverford, or Swarthmore campus network. 

Students needing a regular license to Mathematica for their own computers should go to Wolfram.com and purchase a student license. 

Faculty or Staff needing Mathematica, or anyone needing Mathematica for a college-owned computer, please do not install from this Web page and call the Help Desk at x7440.

Mathematica 5.2 for Windows XP

Download the file and double-click to install.  We recommend Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2.  If you have problems using this installer, please call x7440 and report the problem.

Mathematica 5.2 for OS X

Download the .dmg file.  Double-click to open if it does not open automatically.  Drag Mathematica to your Applications folder.

At the end of the software installation (or when you first start the program), Mathematica may ask for registration information.  If so, select Network installation and type  sassafras.swarthmore.edu as the server name.  After entering the password, you may be asked to register -- click the Later button, you do not ever have to register  this copy of Mathematica

As noted above, Mathematica is controlled by a license manager and must be run while connected to the network.
