Do IT : New Accounts & Passwords

New Employee accounts:
All faculty and staff will have a set of accounts(e.g. Email, Novell, Blackboard and Virtual Bryn Mawr) automatically created for them based on your role with the College. You will be notified by the Help Desk when the accounts have been created and the passwords are available.

Your Blackboard account will also be automatically created, but after you have your email password you need to initiate a web and email process to reset your Blackboard password.

For Meeting Maker and Financial Edge accounts, the supervisor should send an email to the Help Desk indicating which department group (for Meeting Maker) and which budget access (for Financial Edge) should be provided.

For users of the PeopleSoft functions of Virtual Bryn Mawr, the supervisor should send an email to the Help Desk indicating what role/security should be provided.

Password Distribution and Reset
Passwords will be available at the Help Desk whenever Guild is open. You can receive your initial passwords or reset passwords on existing accounts either in person with a form of photo ID or over the telephone with identification such as the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number.  The Help Desk can be reached at 610-526-7440.

New account for a Science Unix/Linux workstation:
You should send an email to help@brynmawr.edu to request access. Please provide the name of the server on which you want an account and the name of the supervising professor.

Personal Web Space :
You should send an email to help@brynmawr.edu to request access to a personal webspace (on students.brynmawr.edu or people.brynmawr.edu for faculty and staff). Please provide your username and your role (e.g. faculty, staff or student).

If you have any questions concerning the status of an account, please call the Help Desk at x7440 or send e-mail to help@brynmawr.edu.

[note: if you're looking for the "Account Request Form", it has been retired given the new policy of pre-creating accounts.  Also, we are working on a self-service interface that will allow users to reset expired passwords for themselves. -- 7/29/05]
